On June 28, Argentum convened a coalition of workforce organizations representing college students, high school students, apprenticeships, foreign-born workers, career seekers, career changers, and other workforce practitioners on behalf of senior living/assisted living employers. The primary purpose of this collaboration is to begin, foster, and support engagements between those who work to assess, guide, and educate career seekers with employers seeking qualified talent.
In late 2022, Argentum unveiled its three-year strategy for Workforce Development; this convening is the first “grassroots” effort on behalf of that strategic goal, “Develop Our People.” With an industry in need of millions of workers required in a few short years, Argentum’s strategy requires connecting a network of labor-ready resources to senior living employers across the region (initially) and the country (eventually). The next phase of this process began with a visit to Brightview Senior Living in Maryland, an Argentum member and participating employer. Brightview’s leadership is assisting in the effort to provide communications, networking, and planning of the various members of the visiting coalition.
On June 28, each of the participants informed and provided discussion on how their various colleges, agencies, and other institutions can support Argentum’s initiatives. Among these groups, the American Job Centers provided information about the multiple populations of consumers they serve, and community colleges spoke on their workforce training, education, and professional development programs. In addition, Job Corps discussed their youth development program, and joint pilot program with Argentum.
