[current_event_date]

Sacramento, CA — The California Assisted Living Association (CALA) announces that their member publication, the CALA News & Views magazine, has been awarded both the Gold Level and Platinum Level in the 2019 Hermes Creative Awards.

CALA News & Views is a quarterly magazine with a distribution of over 1000. The publication is designed to keep senior living providers up-to-date on the latest issues in the aging field. Each issue explores one topic in depth through articles on regulation, best practices, innovations and legal opinion.

Issue 31: Elevate Aging was awarded the prestigious Platinum Level by the Hermes Creative Awards. This issue examined the ways in which ageist attitudes can be harmful and how aging professionals are combating them. Articles explored the influence of Hollywood on society’s view of older adults, a senior living resident’s perspective on aging, and a deep dive into the results of the Elevate Aging Project which asked attendees of the CALA Conference & Trade Show to reflect on their own aging process.

In addition, Issue 30, which focused on workforce development, received the Gold Level from the Hermes Creative Awards. The issue featured articles on school outreach, recruitment, and leadership development and highlighted CALA’s new suite of online Workforce Development tools and resources.

Hermes Creative Awards recognizes outstanding work in the concept, writing and design of traditional and emerging media. Administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, the Awards are judged by industry professionals who look for work that exceeds a high standard of excellence. There were over 6,000 entries from throughout the United States, Canada and several other countries in the 2019 competition.
