New York Times Series Notes Value of Assisted Living

[current_event_date]

A recent series by the KFF Health News (formerly Kaiser Health News) and The New York Times on “America’s long-term care crisis,” provides an important perspective of many of the challenges in caring for our aging population, including workforce shortages and affordability, but it also demonstrates the critical place that assisted living plays as our nation grows older. Critically, the series underscores that assisted living is the most cost-effective long-term care model, showing it to be not only less than half the cost of nursing homes, but also more affordable than the limited services of a home health aide.

Argentum submitted a Letter to the Editor supporting their recognition of assisted living as the most cost-effective model of senior living, showing the value of assisted living and the high levels of customer satisfaction, and encouraging policymakers to take concrete steps to increase access and affordability for more Americans.
