Stories in Every Keepsake: A Journey Through Memories at Heritage Pointe of Huntington Senior Living

[current_event_date]

Residents of Heritage Pointe of Huntington senior living community gathered last week for a special program designed to spark memories, stories, and connections.

“Residents had been asked to bring an item that held significant meaning to them, something tied to a cherished memory,” explained Brad Fuller, activity director. They were then encouraged to share the story behind their treasure with the group.

A resident named Pat showed a newspaper from the 1950s that reported her having won a cashier’s contest at the local supermarket where she worked. She’d also earned the designation of Miss Personality.

Attendees were starstruck as a resident named Carolyn shared an autographed photo of herself with James Garner, one of Hollywood’s most beloved stars. She also recounted a chance meeting she had with Roy Rogers, the infamous Singing Cowboy.

A resident named Doris brought wedding gifts she’d received, and a resident named Ann brought a hand-carved nativity set that she had brought back from Israel (Bethlehem) when she visited years ago.

Each resident took their turn sharing their cherished items and the stories behind them. “Everyone who brought items had such great memories and stories to share and to see everyone so engaged with one another was very meaningful and special. We look forward to doing this activity again down the road!” said Brad.
