[current_event_date]

McLEAN, Va.—Aishani Patel is executive director of the new Sunrise of Summit, the Sunrise community in downtown Summit, just 20 miles from Manhattan.

A licensed assisted living administrator since 2001, Aishani brings 28 years of geriatrics experience to her role. Most recently, she served as executive director at the Sunrise of Westfield. She carries a master’s degree in gerontology and healthcare from the School of Social Work at Rutgers University and an undergraduate degree in social work from the University of Maryland. In addition, she has served as an adjunct instructor at Rutgers continuing education department for the School of Social Work.

The community offers 80 assisted living and memory care residences with private suites designed for both comfort and safety, along with a caring staff who provides highly personalized care.

Ample outdoor spaces provide for socially distanced visits, while enhanced programming seeks to provide residents with a safe, welcoming and enriching environment to lead a dynamic and healthy lifestyle in the era of COVID-19 and beyond.

Conveniently located at River Road and Morris Avenue, Sunrise of Summit is immediately accessible to Short Hills Mall, Summit Oaks Hospital and Overlook Medical Center.

As the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges for family members and caregivers to balance their daily responsibilities while caring for an aging loved one, Sunrise Senior Living offers families with the opportunity to engage with its trusted, high-quality assisted living and memory care services in a carefully constructed format to match the realities of these times.

Sunrise of Summit opens its doors with evidenced-based infection control and screening measures to help reduce the exposure of residents and team members to COVID-19, and enhanced programming to support seniors’ well-being even in times of quarantine, while finding creative ways to connect with family and loved ones digitally and in safe distanced capacities.

The community is the second in the brand to offer Sunrise’s 15-day planner for new resident move-ins, which prioritizes engagement and socialization during the first two weeks as residents adjust to their new home and have a chance to settle into the community. The planner is designed to address the potential for loneliness as residents initially quarantine in their suites and reduce the potential of COVID-19 exposure.

“We are focused on supporting residents’ lifestyles with the highest level of personalized attention during this socially distanced time,” said Patel. “Sunrise has implemented a robust activities program including hydration visits, and one-to-one visits with our team members. Each of our residents have access to iPads with assistance from our caring team members to help ensure that they have the opportunity to engage in virtual visits with friends and family.”

Sunrise’s pandemic response efforts and personalized approach to assisted living and memory care services are being delivered by a team of caregivers who understand the unique needs of seniors. Team members receive training and educational resources to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 by remaining vigilant both at work and at home.

Sunrise of Summit is located at 26 River Road and the community has arranged for both virtual tours of the community and virtual assessments to identify the unique needs of each resident. For more information please call 908-698-4259 or visit the Sunrise of Summit website.
