Argentum Announces Agenda for Public Policy Institute 2023: ‘Moving Forward. Together.’

[current_event_date]

(ALEXANDRIA, Va.) – Senior living advocacy leader Argentum has announced the agenda for its annual Public Policy Institute (PPI) and Fly-in, set to take place March 6-8, 2023, in Washington, DC. With the midterm elections yielding significant changes in the power structures of Congress, the PPI is a must-attend meeting to learn the new lay of the land in the nation’s capital via educational sessions and face time with policymakers.

The 2023 PPI theme is “Moving Forward. Together,” and comes just a few months after November’s midterm elections, which will bring enormous change to Capitol Hill with scores of freshman lawmakers winning seats on both sides of the aisle, and the House flipping to Republicans and Democrats maintaining hold of the Senate.

These new politicians will pass or fail federal laws that directly impact senior living communities making it imperative for senior living communities to unite their voices to federal leaders at the industry’s premier advocacy event.

The federal government has a profound impact on workforce development, long-term care financing, immigration reform, Medicaid, and Medicare expansion – – all issues that can directly and indirectly drastically impact the senior living industry.

With political change, comes new opportunities to advance key Argentum legislative proposals that will strengthen the industry, improve workforce challenges, and expand access to senior living communities, said Maggie Elehwany, senior vice president, public policy, Argentum.

“Every PPI yields valuable results for attendees who get a once-a-year chance to gather in force to spread the senior living advocacy message to Congress and the Administration. This next edition of PPI in March will be even more important in that the congressional leaders Argentum and our members prioritize will likely have changed after the elections next week,” Elehwany said. “We must show up in numbers and gain even more traction for our key messages like solutions for the long-term care workforce shortage crisis.”

National data and national support can be compelling, but legislation will only advance if Members of Congress hear from senior living providers, their constituents, she said.

“Argentum and our state partners are ready to connect you with key policymakers from Capitol Hill and the White House to fight for policies that are critical to you and the seniors that you serve,” said Paul Williams, vice president, government relations, Argentum.

Please register here. More information will be coming in the next weeks on exciting educational sessions that will be part of PPI, as well as DC-connected speakers and political leaders in attendance.

Last year, PPI featured visits from Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Rep. Lori Trahan (D-Mass.), Rep. Carol Miller (R-W.Va.), and Jonathan Blum, principal deputy administrator and chief operating officer at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, among others.
