Argentum Celebrates Careers in Aging Week March 26-April 1

[current_event_date]

ALEXANDRIA, Va.) – The senior population is increasing by 10,000 people per day—more than at any other time in U.S. history. And the need for senior living and the socialization and care we provide in our communities will never be greater. With populations aging rapidly, the demand for professionals with expertise in aging also has never been higher.

To celebrate the importance of this growing sector, Argentum is enthusiastic in supporting Careers in Aging Week (CIAW), taking place from March 26 to April 1. This week-long event is a chance to recognize the contributions of those who work tirelessly to improve the lives of older adults and to showcase the many exciting and diverse career paths that exist in the field of aging.

According to the Workforce Projections for Senior Care Sectors report that was recently released by Argentum, total employment in the senior care industry is projected to reach 8,296,300 by 2040. The projected growth would represent an increase of 2,456,800 jobs—or 42.1%—from its 2021 employment level of 5,839,500. In addition to the 2,456,800 new long term care industry jobs that will be created by 2040, there will be an additional 18 million job openings that result when employees either exit the labor force or transfer to a different occupation. In total, the combined senior care industry will need to fill more than 20.2 million occupational openings between 2021 and 2040.

As the senior living industry faces ongoing workforce challenges, including a shortage of qualified professionals, this year’s CIAW is more important than ever. “By highlighting the many rewarding opportunities available in aging-related careers, we hope to inspire the next generation of professionals to pursue fulfilling careers in this vital and growing field,” commented James Balda, president and chief executive officer, Argentum.

CIAW is also an opportunity to raise awareness of the diverse needs and experiences of older adults, and to promote the importance of creating age-friendly communities, workplaces, and services that support the health and well-being of older adults.

We invite everyone to join us in celebrating Careers in Aging Week from March 26 to April 1. Whether you are an industry professional or simply passionate about aging issues, there are many ways to get involved, from hosting events and workshops to sharing resources and information on social media.
