Alexandria, Va. – Argentum, a national association of senior living providers, is proud to announce the launch of a new initiative celebrating the contributions women have made to the growth and health of the senior living industry.
Seventy percent of the residents served in senior living are women. Adult daughters are often the decision makers when it comes to putting a loved one in a care setting. And senior living is an industry with a predominantly female workforce – four out of five people in the senior living workforce are women. Women hold nearly 70 percent of senior living management jobs, according to Argentum research.
“In many ways the glass ceiling in senior living has already been shattered, but that doesn’t mean our work is done,” said Argentum COO Maribeth Bersani. “With the help of a founding committee to shape the initiative’s mission and vision, Argentum is taking a leadership role in advancing careers of women in senior living by providing educational programming, mentorship, and resources to advance diversity within leadership; explore opportunities to support existing women in the field; and to cultivate the next generation of leaders.”
