(Washington, DC) – In the wake of Hurricane Beryl’s destructive impact on Texas, which has left 300,000 without power a week after the storm made landfall, Argentum is calling on state and local officials to prioritize and expedite the deployment of resources and personnel to restore power in senior living communities. The association is also urging a more robust federal response to speed up recovery efforts and ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable citizens.
“Our hearts go out to all those impacted by Hurricane Beryl,” said Argentum Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Maggie Elehwany. “We are particularly concerned about the well-being of seniors in affected areas who are facing potentially life-threatening conditions due to prolonged power outages and disruptions in care. Senior living communities rely heavily on electricity to maintain a safe and healthy environment, and quickly restoring power must be a top priority for state and local officials.”
Argentum is also calling for additional federal resources to support Texas in resolving this crisis. “We urge federal authorities to collaborate closely with state and local officials to swiftly resolve power outages affecting senior living communities,” added Elehwany.
