LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Atria Senior Living, Inc., and Glennis Solutions have won the Best in Show as well as Gold and Silver awards in the McKnights Excellence in Technology Awards. The companies won Best in Show and also a Gold in the “Building Bridges” category for their resident and family app, and Silver in the “Innovator of the Year” category for their Community Infection Management System (CIMS) tracker. The McKnight’s Tech Awards and Summit was held virtually on October 20 and celebrated outstanding innovation by skilled nursing, senior living and home care providers.
Originally developed for Atria Senior Living’s portfolio and now sold to other senior living providers by Glennis Solutions, the resident and family app rapidly evolved after the March 2020 initial impact of COVID-19 and the resulting separation and distancing required between residents and family members. Now with more than 8,000 downloads across Apple and Android devices, the app connects residents and their families with real-time symptom tracking as well as the enjoyment of daily community life such as food menus and engagement activities.
Similarly, the initial need for an infection tracking tool became evident when the COVID-19 outbreak began in March 2020. Atria Senior Living developed a Community Infection Management System (CIMS) as a comprehensive tool to identify, track and monitor infection rates across individual communities and the entire portfolio. Each community’s staff were tasked with keeping track of residents’ known exposure, symptoms and COVID-19 test results. The tracker gave Atria’s management team an added capability to respond with testing and protocols to fight the pandemic. It then helped Atria coordinate the large-scale COVID-19 vaccination process which has helped it achieve near 100 percent community vaccination levels.
