Expanded Cottage Offerings at Salisbury to Include Lifestyle Programming and Amenities

Charlottesville, VA – January 18, 2024 – Commonwealth Senior Living announces that it is expanding independent living opportunities at Commonwealth Senior Living at Salisbury with the construction of twelve new cottages and a new clubhouse with a recreation room, living room, library, and a fitness/wellness center. In addition to the new facilities, Commonwealth Senior Living will be introducing new lifestyle programming and amenities designed to provide residents with a full suite of services designed specifically for the independent living lifestyle. After construction is complete, there will be a total of 23 cottages at Commonwealth Senior Living at Salisbury.

“We have seen a tremendous amount of demand from existing and prospective residents looking for an independent living experience,” said Earl Parker, President and Chief Executive Officer at Commonwealth Senior Living. “Our vision is to create a new lifestyle village centered around dining, transportation, wellness, and both social and educational programming uniquely tailored and designed to provide our independent living residents with an incredible quality of life, with additional supportive services available on the campus if needed.”

Construction on the new cottages and clubhouse is underway. Each cottage ranges in size from 1,240 square feet to almost 1,400 square feet and includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, a dining room and kitchen, a sunroom or screened porch, and a front porch. Some cottages also include a garage. In addition to the new construction, the existing cottages will be renovated as turnover occurs with new kitchens, bathrooms, and other features.

Residents in the cottages at Commonwealth Senior Living at Salisbury will enjoy a variety of lifestyle-enhancing benefits including all-inclusive utilities, trash pickup, housekeeping services, a 24-hour emergency response system, and more. Residents will also enjoy monthly supper club events and brunches, day trips to local destinations, and quarterly social events with live entertainment. In addition to these independent living-specific amenities, residents will also be able to enjoy all of Commonwealth Senior Living’s existing signature programs including Farm to Table dining, priority access to assisted living or memory care services if needed, and Commonwealth’s interactive communication tool, SMILE ™, among others.

Earl Parker continued; “We are very excited to bring this new independent living concept to Commonwealth Senior Living at Salisbury. Residents will have the opportunity to enjoy amazing programming and amenities designed specifically for them.”
