Commonwealth Senior Living Launches Silver University Continuing Education Program

[current_event_date]

Charlottesville, VA – March 24, 2025 – Commonwealth Senior Living announces that it has launched a new educational enrichment program called Silver University. Silver University is a life-long learning experience whereby residents can attend educational classes, guest lecturers, on-demand classes, and visits to cultural institutions. This new voluntary program is designed for independent and assisted living residents at Commonwealth Senior Living communities who are seeking new educational opportunities and experiences.

“Silver University is part of Commonwealth Senior Living’s commitment to improve the lives of our residents, their families, and each other,” said Paula Harder, Vice-President of Resident Programs & Memory Care. “So many of our residents are intellectually curious and they enjoy learning new things from experts in their respective fields. Silver University gives them the opportunity to go in-depth on specific topics around art, culture, music, history, and many others. Through weekly enrichment classes, we can provide residents with immersive and valuable life-long learning opportunities.”

Silver University is part of Commonwealth Senior Living’s newest signature program – Journeys. Journeys is a company-wide initiative that examines every resident’s unique interests including hobbies, favorite foods, career history, family members and more. This information is used to create a program focused on the whole person and is individually tailored to the social journey of residents. Over the years, more and more residents have expressed an interest in continuing education opportunities and Silver University is fulfilling that request. Silver University joins Commonwealth Senior Living’s 24 unique signature programs including our Farm-to-Table Dining, Program of Fine Arts, and TSOLife. These programs are scientifically backed initiatives that support healthier outcomes for residents.

Ms. Harder continued, “Learning new things every day is such a rewarding experience in our daily lives. Silver University will help our residents continue their educational journey by providing them with one-of-a-kind experiences and opportunities to hear from local, regional, and national experts about a variety of topics. We have already received incredible feedback from those residents who participate in Silver University classes.”
