TAMPA, Florida – SLM Services, LLC of Coconut Creek, Florida was recently honored with an award for exceptional on-the-job safety performance during The MEMIC Group’s Annual Meeting of Policyholders. Only eight employers, out of more than 21,000 MEMIC policyholders across the country, received a 2019 award for workplace safety from the workers’ compensation insurance specialist.
Senior Living Management (SLM) operates 24 licensed senior living residences within Florida, Georgia and Louisiana. They provide a spectrum of hospitality and retirement services from independent living to assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing residences.
“People are willing to do many things to help others, but they don’t always realize the risks they take,” said SLM Chief Operating Officer Bart Palumbo. “We are there to make certain they don’t take an unnecessary risk. I believe safety plays into everything we do, from the simplest decisions we make to the large, most important decisions we make.”
“One of the things that sets SLM apart is the fact that they are doing virtual dementia training not just for their employees but also for people in the community and for first responders. They are going above and beyond to help the community really understand the struggles and the challenges that come with dementia and caring for those with dementia,” said MEMIC Safety Management Consultant Natalie Campaneria. “What they are doing leads to a demonstrably compassionate workforce.”
