Throughout the year, Argentum Advocates, from coast to coast, helped amplify our message by hosting two dozen visits with lawmakers at senior living communities. These visits are integral to our public policy efforts, as they allow lawmakers to meet with residents and caregivers and hear their stories and see how senior living is “home” for nearly two million Americans. Lawmakers are able to bring these stories back to Capitol Hill when considering legislation to help meet the industry’s challenges.

These events are possible because of the preparation and dedication of Argentum members who have taken the initiative to invite their local lawmakers. Argentum’s toolkit provides a roadmap for senior living communities to host a visit, including: sample invitations to send to lawmakers, a sample itinerary or tour structure, best practices for preparing for your visit, how to make your request for support of legislation and continue your conversation after the event concludes, and information on how to get started and work with Argentum and your State Partners in setting up these events. Please continue to invite your lawmakers, both federal and state, to tour your communities so they can get a better appreciation of our work and why we must invest in our workforce, residents, and the future of our industry.
