(Alexandria, Va.)—Argentum announced today that Tim Buchanan, president and CEO at Legend Senior Living, was elected to serve as the new chairman of the Argentum Board of Directors. Most recently, he served as the vice chairman on the board. Considered a pioneer in the industry, Buchanan also served as the first chairman of the Senior Living Certification Commission, an independent, nonprofit organization committed to establishing credentialing programs for professionals working in senior living. Buchanan officially assumed the Argentum board chairman’s position at the 2018 Argentum Senior Living Executive Conference held this week in San Diego, Calif.
“Our industry is on an upward trajectory thanks to our customer-focused model of care that has made our products and services so overwhelmingly sought after among seniors and their families,” said Buchanan. “Argentum will continue working to innovate and educate the public about what we do and how we can help. We must continue to lead public policy and regulation conversations happening in the states and in Washington. We will continue to work to attract an increasing number of professional, caring workers to serve our nation’s older adults. I want to thank the board for entrusting me with this responsibility.”
Randy Richardson, Vi president, was elected to fill the vice chairman’s role formerly held by Buchanan, and John Moore, Atria Senior Living chairman and CEO, was elected to serve as secretary. Loren Shook, Silverado president, CEO, and chairman, is now the immediate past board chairman. Several other officers were also re-elected to serve another term: Ed Kenny, LCS chairman, as public policy committee chairman; Bruce Mackey, Five Star Senior Living president & CEO, as treasurer; and Pat Mulloy, as vice chairman.
Additionally, several new directors were elected to join the board: Scott Brinker, EVP and CIO, HCP; John Goodey, EVP and CFO, Welltower; Chris Hyatt, COO, New Perspective Senior Living; and Mary Sue Patchett, EVP – community and field operations, Brookdale. Additionally, two new directors were elected to the board as ex officio members: Kathy Fiery, director, division of assisted living/alternative services, Health Care Association of New Jersey; and Gayle Kvenvold, president and CEO, LeadingAge Minnesota.
Argentum would also like to recognize and thank the following board members for their dedicated years of service: Brenda Bacon, president and CEO, Brandywine Living (2007-2018); Tom DeRosa, CEO, Welltower (2015-2018); Stephanie Handelson, CEO, Harmony Senior Services (2009-2018); Todd Novaczyk, founder and CEO, New Perspective Senior Living (2012-2018); Andy Smith (2016-2018), and Tiffany Tomasso, founding partner, Kensington Senior Living (2005-2018).
“We truly appreciate the dedication and thought leadership from Brenda, Tom, Stephanie, Todd, Andy, and Tiffany,” said James Balda, Argentum president and CEO. “Their service on the board and to the industry has been invaluable, and we thank them for their commitment to excellence across senior living.”
