Some Kansas senior citizens glammed up with nails and makeup for the first senior prom in four years due to COVID. Morningside Place, an Anthem Memory Care community in Overland Park invited four senior living communities to fill up their dance cards at a prom for the elderly held at 75th Street Events.

This soiree with a twist featured dinner, lively music, dancing, friendly conversations and the traditional crowning of the prom king and queen.

“This was a great way for all of the participants to recapture a wonderful moment in time,” said Chasity Robinson Mwangi, senior community relations director for Morningside Place. “They may have dementia, but it doesn’t mean they can’t enjoy these special moments. It is a privilege creating something so meaningful for them.”

Morningside Place is located at 6921 W. 81st St., Overland Park, Kansas.
