Senior Living Reimagined: How Artificial Intelligence Is Leading the Transformation

[current_event_date]

The Senior Living Executive Conference explores the continually increasing potential—and power—of AI in this unique space.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer an exciting concept on the horizon. It’s been here and will be here…that is, until “what’s next” comes along.  Today’s AI is instrumental in reshaping the senior living industry in ways that are increasingly profound. From predictive analytics that enhance resident care to AI-powered automation that increases operational efficiencies to creative uses that decrease resident loneliness and increase engagement, AI technology is shaping and driving how senior living communities deliver personalized, effective, and proactive services.

However, with this level of game-changing innovation comes the challenge of efficient and effective implementation: How can senior living leaders harness and integrate AI while also respecting the human element that is a key part of quality care?

At the Senior Living Executive Conference—the official meeting of Argentum, Tampa, May 19-21, 2025—senior living professionals, operators, owners, executives, and community leaders will be gathering with industry experts for three dynamic days of networking, education, and inspiration which includes exploring AI’s power and potential.  Offering practical ways to seamlessly integrate AI advancements, several important AI-focused sessions at this conference will explore how this next-level technology can revolutionize communities, improve resident satisfaction and outcomes, as well as drive operational success.

Once such session, taking place at the conference, Monday, May 19, 2025, is Navigating AI in Senior Living: Strategies, Tools, and Real-World Solutions. Leading this not-to-be-missed presentation is digital marketing thought leader, Kent Lewis. Currently Chief Evangelist at Gravitate Design, Kent is the founder of pdxMindShare, Portland’s premier professional networking group and online career community.

We spoke to Kent about his upcoming presentation at the Senior Living Executive Conference and asked him to tell us what inspired him to want to address this specific community about what AI might mean to them and do for them.  “I’m most excited about the potential to maximize the impact of sales and marketing efforts for the senior living industry,” he stated. “While cost-cutting is an obvious benefit of AI in terms of streamlining process and workflow efficiencies, I’m far more inspired by the power of AI to create and deliver messages that truly resonate with target audiences (children, care providers, etc.) based not just on relationship, but timing, device, and context.”

We then asked Kent what he felt attendees can expect to take away from his session.  “The positive feedback I received from SMASH (Senior Care Marketing & Sales Summit) in a similar session last year, was how timely, relevant, and actionable my presentation was for attendees. I provide both a high-level context and landscape of AI, as well as specific tools and how to use them effectively to streamline and uplevel marketing and other activities.

Kent will begin his session at the upcoming Senior Living Executive Conference by setting the stage for attendees—outlining the current landscape of AI and its relevance to the senior living industry. He’ll then go on to introduce several AI tools, highlighting their capabilities, and explaining how to use them effectively. He’ll also demonstrate how these tools are designed to enhance efficiency, improve decisionmaking, and ultimately drive growth in the senior living sector.

Complementing Kent’s coverage of AI will be two executives from the senior living industry: Ben Exstrom, Vice President of Information Technology, Sinceri Senior Living; and Jenni Bost, Vice President of Marketing Radiant Senior Living.  These two senior executives will share their real-world challenges with Kent as he provides AI-driven solutions to their issues—offering a dynamic approach that will deliver practical, hands-on insights for solving common industry problems.

Continuing the critical focus on the rapidly growing role of AI in senior living, the conference’s complete program includes a number AI-based sessions to ensure attendees are getting the most valuable, applicable, and actionable information possible:

Future-Proofing Senior Living: Leveraging AI for Operational Excellence and Enhanced Resident Care

Amy Crosslin, Director of People Operations, Sonida Senior Living; and Greg Roderick, CEO, Frontier Management

We spoke with WiseOx CEO Fritz Brumder on what excites him about the groundbreaking potential of AI in Senior Living.  “The potential for AI is on the same scale as the invention of the internet, social media, and cloud software. All 3 of these technology revolutions have impacted Senior Living programming, living options, health care, and our bottom line,” he answered. “AI represents the largest opportunity to rethink and evolve how Senior Living works.”

In this session moderated by Fritz, Amy Crosslin from Sonida Senior Living and Greg Roderick from Frontier Management will be sharing their experience of diving into the transformative power of AI in the senior living industry. They will explore how purpose-built AI mascots can revolutionize operations, improve regulatory compliance, and enhance the quality of life for residents. Those in attendance will gain insight from real-world case studies and discover actionable strategies to effectively integrate AI into their organizations.

AI and Employment Law: Using AI for HR Functions in a Legally Compliant Way
Jason Geller
, JD, Partner, Fisher Phillips LLP; and Laurel Cornell, Esq., Partner, Fisher Phillips

According to the EEOC, approximately 80% of employers currently utilize some form of AI or people analytics in connection with recruiting, hiring, performance management, compensation, training and other practices. While senior living providers are apt to use such algorithmic tools given their potential effectiveness with other aspects of operations—including personalized care, health monitoring/fall prediction, and resident programming—the laws regulating use of such platforms for employment-related purposes are murky and rapidly changing along with the technology. In this session, Fisher Phillips partners, Laurel Cornell and Jason Geller, will provide insight into this constantly evolving area of technology and law, including a discussion of the EEOC’s stance on—and initiatives regarding—the use of AI in employment selection procedures.

AI-Driven Activity Management: Elevating Resident Engagement and Operational Efficiency
Brandon Tabbert
, Vice President, Innovation and Optimization, New Perspective Senior Living; and Dylan Conley, Chief Technology Officer, LifeLoop

As the senior living industry grapples with enhancing the well-being of residents while also managing operational efficiency, AI solutions have become increasingly appealing due to their ability to augment current capabilities. And while many have a basic knowledge of what AI is and does, the big question is: What does using AI in senior living actually look like?

This session will go beyond talking about AI as a concept and dive into AI in action. Drawing on a successful strategic technology partnership, the speakers will delve into how AI is transforming resident and staff experiences while also speaking to the importance of partnerships for creating truly effective technology. They will focus specifically on AI-driven activity management, calendar coordination, and activity programming. Attendees will learn how a strategic technology partnership can harness AI to personalize resident experiences, streamline staff workflows, and elevate overall community engagement.

The speakers will also discuss their collaborative development of an AI-driven feature and the benefits achieved, including meeting evolving resident expectations for personalized experiences and alleviating staff burden. Additionally, they will discuss the role and benefits of user-centered design in this collaborative process. Through a real-world case study, attendees will gain actionable knowledge—including successful strategies and lessons learned—that they can bring back to their organizations to begin or amend their technology innovation journey.

At this spring’s Senior Living Executive Conference, industry and thought leaders will be joining technology pioneers in sharing important, actionable insights that are specifically geared to helping senior living professionals navigate this ever-evolving landscape—enabling them to stay ahead of the curve as they successfully lead their communities into the future.
